Tributes

  1. Today we farewelled a true gentleman and great friend Luke STEELE .
To Yvonne and family we give our deepest sympathy and love.
A show of such family strength shown today by all who spoke about Luke especially Yvonne and their children proved how Luke’s values and nature has influenced and will live on in future generations. I worked with Luke for over ten years at Barwon and am a better person because of it. Our joint love of St Kilda fc and enjoying going to games in years past we’re fun times. He will be sorely missed with his unique sense of humour .

  2. Vonnie, I just want to say that our fun memories of all our dinners, sleep overs and catch ups with our little group will stay with us forever. Luke will be so, so missed. His quiet, yet cheeky demeanour, his love of food, his crazy collection of shirts and his ability to make people feel comfortable all go together to increase the loss for all of us. Love Deb and Pete

  3. Dear Yvonne and loving family. I am so sad to hear of Luke’s passing, please accept my deepest sympathy. On the few occasions I met Luke, he was a polite, caring, respectful and friendly person. All of us who were fortunate to meet him will feel a great loss. I hope you live with the beautiful memories you shared as a family. In my thoughts, always. Love Joe and Anita.

  4. Steelie my friend I am so grateful to have known you. My work days were always better when you were rostered on. You made me laugh with your wacky sense of humor. I loved the way your uniform was impeccable but you liked to wear odd socks and that you kept the most meticulous registers with a little orange ruler tucked away in your top pocket. I would always giggle when I glimpsed you in the morning with your Hawaiian shirt on. We all loved your egg and bacon sandwiches when you did a 2nd watch and that you kept the goodie fridge fully stocked. There are so many things that made you, you, but most of all I loved that you were my friend. I will cherish the memories of lunches, coffee, chats and gossip …Rest peacefully my Friend x. To Yvonne and family you all are in my thoughts Love Ruth x

  6. Dear Luke. I consider you to be possibly the model of how a friend, husband and father should be. The world would be a better place if there were more like you in it. My only criticism I have of you is your misguided support of the StKilda AFL club, however, this flaw was easily overlooked. Rest In Peace my friend. Sincere condolences to Yvonne, Sarah, Dan, Josh and Sam
