The staff and students at Belmont High School will remember Ern fondly for his humour and contributions to the school.
He was a true Aussie legend and hero.Sad I can’t be at Ern’s farewell but remember him so fondly both personally and as a great friend of Belmont High School when I was Principal.
Our sympathies on the loss of an “Australian character”. Ern spent time in a number of prisons with my father, also a Sgt. of 2/32 battalion and attended many post war ceremonies with him including the 70th Anniversary of the North Africa Campaign. We had an entertaining morning with him last year when I finally got him toisign his book which had been in my Dad’s possession for some years.
