19.06.1930 – 15.10.2020
Beloved husband of Winifred (67 years) and wonderful father of Gavin, Murray, Owen and Dale.
Father-in-law to Deb, Jenny (dec), Judy, Rosie and friend to Sue.
Loved and respected by his grandchildren and their families – Caleb and Chandre, Noah, Sally, Scott, Caitlain, Charlotte, Angus and Jasper, Tristan and Sam, Jeremy and Greer, Stewart, Justin, Jenna, Tyler and Declan, Emily and Ashley, Jason and Sophie.
Harward lived and loved life to the full. He would light up the room, had a wicked sense of humour and always had a great story to tell. An innovative farmer, with an extraordinary capacity to problem solve; Harward had a passion and renowned ability for restoring the land, tools and engines.
Harward’s Christian faith was an inspiration to many as he devoted his life to serving God and those around him. With Winifred, his partner in life, Harward was generous and hospitable to people from all walks of life over many years.
Harward had a deep love for Winifred and his family of whom he was very proud. Harward faced death without fear. In his words “I know where I’m going.”
We are thankful for a life well lived.

Harward you brought blessings untold to my life, I will miss you dear Friend.
We feel so blessed to have had Harward as such a friendly, encouraging leader in our church. As youth, we challenged him but he was always there to encourage & bring life and laughter and directing us to a deeper relationship with God. The Mountjoy’s home was always open to us. Our love and condolences to Winifred and all the family. Peter & Evangeline Smith
I was truly blessed to have met Harward and even more blessed to discover we were distantly related! It was Harward who made my transition to Geelong a joy and he had a positive impact on my life. Never without a smile, a joke, thoughtful advice and always good for a hug. A true man of God. I have so many happy memories which I will always treasure. I loved that man! My love, thoughts and prayers are with Winifred, Dale, Rosie and all Harwards wonderful family. Denise Potter Coates
Reach Out Seymour Praises God for his valuable contribution to our gathering. Harward was there from the beginning and encouraged us to assume the name Reach Out. His concern was that we would always share the Good News about Jesus in deed and word.
We first met Harward about 20 years ago at the Uniting Church Seymour. On our third meeting at the Alternative Farming Expo a conversation lead to us mentioning our former denominational background. Harwards reaction: “I knew it! ya can smell em anywhere.” And we have loved him and Winifred ever since.
A wonderful man whose kindness and generosity of spirit was far reaching and without judgment
