Margaret Rose POYNTON (née McCarthy)

30.09.1942 – 04.10.2021
Much loved daughter of Ted and Mary McCarthy.
Loving sister of Eileen, Joanne (dec), John and Carmel.
Devoted wife of Barrie for 56 years and dedicated Mum to Mark, Anthony, Christopher and Rebecca and their partners Tracey, Tracy and Robert.
Caring and affectionate Nanna of Jayme, Darcy, Alexandra, Kit, Patrick and Julia.
Passed peacefully after declining health, which she faced with fortitude
and good humour.

I’ll miss you terribly Mum but I take comfort that you’re now running around the
great tennis court in the sky. To your favourite son-in-law, Roberto, you were a
respected verbal jousting partner! Paddy treasures the memories of you attending
his footy matches, even braving the rowdy clubrooms on a walking stick after his
team’s Premiership win. Jules fondly recalls the two of you playing board games
and doing puzzles together…simple things but precious time together.
We love you very much. Bec, Rob, Patrick and Julia (Sicilia)

  6. To Barrie Poynton & Family

I wish to offer my sincere condolences to you Barrie on the loss of Margaret, your beloved wife and life partner of 56 yrs.
You raised your children Mark, Anthony, Chris and Rebecca together with love and generosity of spirit. Congratulations on your mutual achievements.

Margaret will be missed, yet, no doubt celebrated by all who knew her as a wonderful Sister, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother and friend.

I will always remember Margaret as a tall, beautiful woman with a cheeky laugh and a warm disposition.

My father kept newsclip photos of her achievements in tennis , which his very proud twin sister Les sent to him. Margaret was greatly admired and respected by Lloyd & June Madden (my parents) and Les & Frank Poynton (Barries parents).

At this sad time, I send you all my love. May your fond and loving memories of Margaret be with you today. Her spirit will live in our hearts forever.

The circumstances of Covid have kept our families at a distance. My little family in Melbourne have been informed of your loss and we send our best wishes to you all today.
